Although the former West Virginia head man is struggling this season with the Wolverines, it’s too soon to be calling for his head.   Combine a completely new offense with too many starting true freshman and you have a recipe for disaster for any coach at any program.

There’s already rumors flying that RR is going back to his old school, Clemson, to take over for the departed Thomas Bowden.  Perhaps West Virginia wants Rod back after their dismal start.  The saga continues in what is the greatest soap opera in the world, NCAA college football.

Clemson senior starting quarterback, Cullen Harper, describing how he felt about his head coach, Tommy Bowden’s firing on Monday.  The over-rated QB went on to say:

“He tried to motivate us but guys were off the bandwagon. There were things I disagreed with and that my teammates disagreed with. I didn’t appreciate it when he would say some off-the-wall things about me to the media. I guess one thing I can say is he gave me an opportunity to come to Clemson and play.”

Even Cullen’s daddy, Jeff, thought he’d kick Coach Bowden in the balls.  “I’d call it karma,” he said. “I thought it needed to be done. I think anytime a head coach or someone in a leadership position starts to place blame on his coaches and players, it weakens their respect on the team. His past experiences have shown he’s done that.”

While I don’t agree with the entire Harper jumping on Bowden, Tommy is notorious for having teams loaded with talent and flopping.  

Assistant Coach Dabo Swinney takes the reigns of a Clemson team and fan base just dying to turn the corner and finally live up to expectations.

Michigan lost in it’s own Big House on Saturday to 1-4 MAC team, the Toledo Rockets.  The Wolves, with a 2-4 record, face Penn State this weekend who is firing on all cylinders.  While many UM faithful figured the learning curve for Rich’s new offense would be high, no one predicted this.

The Michigan secondary gave up a Michigan Stadium record 20 catches to Rocket WR Nick Moore.  It’s scary to think what the Nittany offense could do next week.

Michigan’s record streak of 33 straight years with bowl game could very well be in jeopardy this year.  Their remaining schedule is no cake walk to 6 wins.

If in July, you would’ve told me that after 6 weeks of football Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Ball State, and North Carolina were in the top 25, I would’ve called you Charlie Weis.

This weekend is going to shake up the rankings as Texas faces Oklahoma and LSU battles Florida.  Check in next week to see how these teams fair.

Is Vandy legit?  They have wins over ranked SEC opponents South Carolina and Auburn.  They should rack up win 6 over Miss State this weekend.  And then lead us into a monster showdown with Georgia?  Who would’ve thought that Vandy/Georgia in week 7 would be a highly anticipated game?  Good work Commodores.

I’ve stated every week since the beginning of the season that the minus the USC/Ohio State game, the creativity and ingenious of college kids has diminished greatly.

ESPN Gameday travels to the Red River Shootout this Saturday to cover what is, of course, going to be a huge game between two undefeated teams, the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns.  Check out MGAF after the game to see how Corso fared as well as the funniest signs of week.  If there are any.

Winning on the road at Camp Randall Stadium is no small feat.  The Badgers have won 19 straight at home and have one of the toughest crowds to back them up.  The third quarter tradition of blaring House of Pain while 90,000 drunk fans jump up and down has become a staple home Wisconsin games.

However, last night, other people got into the fun:

Ohio State’s new superhero backfield duo of true freshman Terrelle Pryor and bulldozer running back Beanie Wells did not disappoint. Wells covered 168 yards on the ground and scored once. Pryor, while making a few rookie mistakes, drove his team 80 yards in under 2:00 minutes to score on an option keeper.  This was TP’s first big test.  He passed.

The nation watched as Matthew Stafford’s Heisman hopes were tossed away. 

Our main tan, Lee Corso, picked the upset.  Nice job Lee.  Big swing game for you and you came through.

Maryland beat Clemson. Navy topped Wake Forest.  Mississippi knocked off Florida.  USC lost to the Beavers of Oregon State.  Michigan played the worst half of college football in a decade but managed to beat Wisconsin.  Georgia got thumped by Bama on their own field during a Black Out.

Both offensive and defenive lines controlled the line of scrimmage for the Irish leading them to a win that could propel them in the right direction for the remainder of the season.  While the thought makes me puke in my mouth, we could honestly be looking at a potential BCS team in Notre Dame.  Due to the absolute garbage rule that allows ND in the BCS if they finish in the top 8, the Clausen-led team could do just that.  Their remaining schedule consists of games against Stanford, Washington, Pitt, Boston College, Navy, and Syracuse; which should all result in wins.

Look for the 2008 edition of Notre Dame to rewake the echoes of recent past and get smoked in a bowl game.
