Tuscaloosa is in heaven right now.  Nick Saban has turned that program around in just 2 years.  Who would’ve thought?  Lee Corso, that’s who!   He picked the elephants of Alabama to march into Sanford Stadium and beat the #3 Georgia Bulldogs on their field, at night, in the Black Out.

The nation watched as Matthew Stafford’s Heisman hopes were tossed away.

Stafford

Our main tan, Lee Corso, picked the upset.  Nice job Lee.  Big swing game for you and you came through.

Some of the funny signs seen at the Georgia/Alabama Gameday:

1.  Tebow knocked up Palin’s daughter

2.  USC forgot to shave their Beavers

3.  Get your tampons, it’s the Crimson Tide!

4.  Once you Go Black, you never go back

5.  I’ve had wedgies cooler than Alabama football

Overall, not a terrible week for creativity, but still not what MGAF likes to see.  By far, the OSU/USC Gameday brought the humor more than any other schools.  Check in next week when we review the picks and signs as Gameday travels to Vanderbilt.  Yes, I said Vanderbilt.

Upset weekend rocks unofficial BCS Standings

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Looks like history is repeating itself this year in college football.  Much like last season, the crazy upsets have started in 2008.

Maryland beat Clemson. Navy topped Wake Forest.  Mississippi knocked off Florida.  USC lost to the Beavers of Oregon State.  Michigan played the worst half of college football in a decade but managed to beat Wisconsin.  Georgia got thumped by Bama on their own field during a Black Out.

All these shockers have lead to some shakeups in the most recent edition of the unofficial Week 5 BCS standings.

1) 0.9472 Oklahoma
2) 0.9226 Alabama
3) 0.8135 Texas
4) 0.7975 LSU
5) 0.7674 Missouri
6) 0.6897 Penn State
7) 0.5983 Georgia
8) 0.5712 South Florida
9) 0.5700 USC
10) 0.5664 Brigham Young
11) 0.5226 Utah
12) 0.5183 Texas Tech
13) 0.4167 Ohio State
14) 0.4120 Boise State
15) 0.4025 Florida
16) 0.3591 Auburn
17) 0.3391 Vanderbilt
18) 0.2377 Wisconsin
19) 0.2343 Kansas
20) 0.2295 Virginia Tech
21) 0.2095 Connecticut
22) 0.1641 Northwestern
23) 0.1582 Oregon
24) 0.1350 Oklahoma State
25) 0.1189 Fresno State

This weekend could bring us some upsets too.  Same games MGAF thinks could be upsets:

- Mizzou at Nebraska

- Oregon at USC

- Auburn at Vandy

- Oregon State at Utah - the reign of Beaver continues

Lee Sucks. Drops to 2-2.

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Lee’s up and down season of predictions continues.  Last week at the LSU vs Auburn showdown, Lee donned the Tiger mascot.  The wrong tiger mascot.  He picked Auburn to defeat the defending national champion, Louisiana State Tigers.

Corso appeared to be correct with just over 1:00 minute remaining in the game.  However, LSU backup QB Jarrett Lee hit receiver Brandon LaFell on an 18 yard score to put the tigers who wear yellow on top 26-21.  They held on to win the big SEC match up and continued their quest for back-to-back BCS titles.

This Saturday provides another tough challenge for Lee as the guys with the best job on the planet travel to Athens, GA to watch yet another monster Southeastern Conference battle; the #9 Crimson Tide battle #3 Georgia.

This game is a “must win” for Lee as it could put him in the losing column for good if he chooses wrong.  Which he will.
